Philip Bixby

Philip Bixby holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Texas at Austin (2017) and a master’s degree in musicology from the University of California, Irvine (2019). His dissertation investigates the conservative evangelical Christian reception of rock music in the late-twentieth-century United States, tracing the evolution of claims regarding musical form, intention, and affect. His other scholarly interests include post-war analytic philosophy and aesthetics, modernist music, critical theory, and speculative fiction. He plays the piano, watches approximately one film per day, and occasionally writes horror stories.
