Maiani da Silva is a contemporary violinist and performer. An omnivorous chamber musician, Maiani’s diverse experiences, both musical and otherwise, have contributed to her insatiable curiosity in blurring the lines of genre, and what it means to be a performing musician in the modern era.

Maiani is the violinist with Eighth Blackbird, one of the world’s preeminent new music chamber ensembles, and along with Kate Outterbridge, she is the co-founder of The Furies, an intersectional feminist duo whose mission is to empower the female experience through music and performance art. Maiani has been fortunate to collaborate with various cutting-edge contemporary artists, from contemporary classical ensembles to pop stars at the Oscars. She has also premiered works by prominent composers, and recorded chamber music albums as well as soundtracks for various TV series.

Maiani studied with Irina Muresanu at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and
Mela Tenenbaum in Brooklyn, N.Y. Maiani is very much looking forward to starting her first semester as Lecturer at Yale’s Department of Music fall of 2021.
