Erin Johnson-Hill has just been awarded the Walter L. Arnstein Prize for Dissertation Research in Victorian Studies by the Midwest Victorian Studies Association. As the first musicologist to win this interdisciplinary award, Erin’s trip from London to the MVSA’s conference in Iowa City this May is being funded by Professor Roger Parker’s Music in London Project at King’s College, London. As well as reciving the award at this conference, Erin will also present a paper entitled “Exercising to Song: School Music Education and the Masculinization of the Victorian Working-Class Child.”
