YOST (YOST: Y | Opera | Studies Today)
December 4-6
Who’s Calling the Shots? Aesthetics and Power in Contemporary Opera will bring together artists, dramaturges, managers, board members, scholars, and other opera stakeholders from around the world to reflect on who shapes contemporary opera today — and how questions of power, authorship, and aesthetics are being reimagined in the field. The conference will consist of short statements, panels, and listening sessions, and take place in person on various locations across Yale Campus from the late afternoon of Dec. 4 through midday of Dec. 6. Contributors include Melanie Bacaling, George Brant, Astrid Baumgardner, Joy Calico, Mark Campbell, Allison Chu, Moritz Eggert, Jean Hostache, Lily Kass, Elena Langer, Andrea Moore, Frances Pollock, Kevin Puts, Emily Richmond Pollock, Olaf Roth, Ewa Rucinska, Carlos José Pérez Sámano, Diana Syrse, Jeanine Tesori, Dawn Upshaw, and Adriana Zabala. Along with my co-organizers Amy Stebbins and Hauke Berheide, I am thrilled by the range of voices and perspectives joining us and look forward to the discussions, presentations, and insights we’ll share together.
You will fine more information on the conference website.
