Lin is a 6th year PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology. Her dissertation on Lisbon’s Afro-Portuguese electronic dance music scenes and notions of Portuguese national identity will add to the development of Afro-Lusophone music studies. Prior to beginning at Yale in 2015, Lin graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College where she received a B.M. in cello performance in 2013. She went on to study performance at the École Normale de Musique de Paris (2013-2015). Her research interests include African popular music, music of the African diaspora, music and migration, popular music, and urban expressive cultures.
